Teal Winstead, MA

“A thing that has not been understood inevitably reappears; like an unlaid ghost, it cannot rest until the mystery has been solved and the spell broken.” ~ Sigmund Freud

Clients I See
I see children, adolescents, adults  and families (Ages 3+)

Topics I Address

I am a trained trauma and culturally competent informed professional. Although my experience covers a multitude of topics, I am passionate about working with children, adolescents and their families to support their mental health, behavior, academic and social-emotional needs so they can prosper in life. I provide play, sand tray, and art therapy techniques to help them express their feelings openly, learn healthy communication styles and develop coping mechanisms they can use as needed.

My Thoughts about the Therapeutic Process

t is important to find a therapist you connect with. My clients find that my warm and compassionate approach to therapy makes it easy to connect with me. Building an authentic relationship is the first step and most essential part of the therapeutic process. As your therapist I will strive to provide unconditional acceptance and a non judgmental approach. You are the only expert in your life. Imagine taking a car ride. You are the driver and I’m the passenger supporting you along your journey by helping you navigate different obstacles and roads you come across. Your therapy sessions will be a safe and collaborative space for healing and growth. Success lies in creating strong trustworthy relationships and providing a place for people
to be themselves without judgment. Most importantly people want to be listened to and validated, and that is the key to my therapeutic approach.

My Professional Experience

I have 3 years of clinical experience helping people make positive changes in their life. My matriculation throughout school, previous jobs and the community has allowed me to work with a
diverse population. I believe it is important to meet my clients where they are; and customize my counseling approach to address their needs
